Really, this is just taking what already exists to the next level. As time goes on, technologies like this will become more seamlessly part of life.
I mean, think about it. Imagine being able to just look at a store you're passing and a personal HUD pops up giving ratings, highlight items of interest to you that they carry (from a list you program yourself, such as hobby items, favorite foods, etc), comparative pricing with other nearby stores and online retailers, and all the other information you could want.
And honestly, I'd say systems like this would increase activity for the net-dependent, not decrease it. Right now, going out means you're not connected as well. You have to interrupt real conversations or stop what you're doing to fiddle with a phone. If all that accessibility is bled into your other actions, you can do things like go for a walk while still surfing the web and chatting with online friends. You're not having to sacrifice one thing to do another.
There's still quite a ways to go before things are that seamless, but we should be encouraging the progress, not decrying it as tools for the exceptionally lazy.
