However, I had to give him a reality check.  Whether my comment shows up there or not, I don't know.  So:  I'll summarize it here.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily racially motivated, and I can't say whether it's becoming more prevalent or not, but it does happen, and some kids do seem to consider it a game.

How can anyone tell from CCTV footage whether or not an attack is part of the so called "knockout game" or just another random, unprovoked attack (which do happen and are not new)?

Which is a game to the assholes who do it. Media probably invented the name, but that doesn't change the fact that people are being attacked at random and unprovoked.

Well, if it wasn't a thing before the media starting talking about it, it probably is now or at least will be in the near future. Somewhere, sometime, some thugs are probably going to hear about it and think that it's an absolutely brilliant idea.

I actually have a friend who used to participate in a similar game with his mates. Although they would do it in pubs, and they were welsh.  It was a game played by their rugby team - the point being you just randomly walk up to someone in the pub and snot them.

I'm not racist but I think we need to eradicate the welsh. But also we need to make sure there are no links between dissaffected American youths and the entire welsh nation.
