What is this I don't even

No seriously, I've seen several comics in a similar style on this thread before... and I have no idea what they're supposed to be about or what is going on there.

Either way, I want two of whatever the artist is on.

There's something of an irony in the way that, despite the biggest criticism on this (and the Worst Cartoons) thread being cartoonists over-labelling things, the biggest source of bemusement turns out to be the cartoons that resolutely label absolutely nothing.

The cartoonist in this case is Martin Rowson, who along with Steve Bell is one of the more high-profile cartoonists for The Guardian. Their work makes perfect sense in the context of British politics, but like I said, nothing is labelled and nothing is explained. They also tend to be the most left-wing pieces in the Guardian itself on any given day, for some reason.

Anyway, the context here is that Boris Johnson was pretty much the only Conservative of note to come out of the local elections looking good (although even his win was narrower than expected). Labour gained some 820 seats across UK councils, the Conservatives lost 400, and the Liberal Democrats lost 330, particularly disastrous as they didn't have as many incumbents up for election in the first place.

The opinions involved are most likely:

1. That (right to left) David Cameron (PM, Con), George Osborne (Chancellor of the Exchequer, Con) and Danny Alexander (Chief Secretary to the Treasurer, LD) are desperately grasping on Boris Johnson's success, devoid as they are of anything else,
2. That the rich (the fat cats in the balloon) will benefit from Johnson's election,
3. Boris only won because of the Evening Standard's reporting, and his campaign was a load of hot air,
4. "The Lib Dems are fucked! Hahahahahaha!"

The comic's about Boris Johnston being voted Mayor of London technically belonging to the Tory party, making gains whilst the main party is trying to rein him and his financers in towards the main party. I think.

I'm mildly disturbed that you know that.

I still have no idea what's with the vulture on the easel. The rest is only due to being a Londoner who reads the papers.

Only because debt collectors haven't found heaven's phone number.
History is full of maniacs, my friend, men and women of intelect, highly perceptive individuals, who's brilliant minds know neither restraint nor taboo. Such notions are the devils we must slay for the edification of pony-kind. Even if said edification means violating the rules of decency, society, and rightousness itself.

They're big on threes there.

Either it's because of the whole Trinity deal, or they're big time Dale Earnhardt Sr. fans.
