Kepler space telescope shuts down
« on: May 17, 2013, 06:28:13 pm »
This is some sad scientific news, indeed.  The Kepler Space Telescope that has been used since 2009 to find planets circling distant stars has shut down.  So far, attempts to get it going again have been unsuccessful.  Hopefully, they can get it kick-started soon.

The heavens convince me there is no god.

Religion is an insult to human dignity. Without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.--Steven Weinberg

Religion can never reform mankind because religion is slavery--Robert G. Ingersoll

I don't know why people compare George Carlin to God. He's great and all, but he's no George Carlin.-Anon.

It's definitely a shame, but it did last long enough to do what it was built for. Anything else would just have been gravy. Hopefully they can either get one of those wheels working again, or find another use for it, since it still has the potential for more action.
