I actually wouldn't mind if the US did set up it's own system of knighthood. After all, knighthoods are not inheritable. I would start by retroactively knighting all recipients of the Medal of Honor.

What, doing something England does, because it makes sense?

...that doesn't sound very 'merican, or patriotic. :p

And seriously, if we're adopting things from Britain... can we start with the metric system?

What, the metric system that nobody in this country uses?

Does knighthood even MEAN anything? Like, is there something you get for being a knight?

It's usually a reward for 'services rendered'.  When it's military brass, charity types or someone who made a difference then it means something.  But when it's some business type who's made themselves millions I feel it's been devalued.

It's usually a reward for 'services rendered'.  When it's military brass, charity types or someone who made a difference then it means something.  But when it's some business type who's made themselves millions I feel it's been devalued.

Especially if it's for "services to banking" or something like that.
