^Yes, but people want their beliefs to be the ones on top. This is clearly a move to appeal to those that take the Bible literally, and they probably don't see anything wrong with this, because in their minds, they are right. If they do see something wrong, then this might be an attempt to play the victim and claim to be persecuted when this ends up getting shot down.
Those that are for this are uncomfortable with the idea of secularism, and having 2012 be the year of the bible would make them feel safe with their beliefs when it comes to religion and country.
