Your top 5 saddest scenes in Disney movies
« on: July 02, 2013, 04:47:01 pm »
In your opinion, what are the 5 saddest scenes in Disney movies?

1. Girl squirrel finding out Arthur is human - Sword in the Stone
2. Ralph smashing Venelope's racer - Wreck It Ralph
3. Mufasa's death (I think this'll be on everyones list) - Lion King
4. "Goodbye may seem forever" - Fox and the Hound
(I couldn't think of a #5)

I can't think of 5 either.

1. Old Yeller getting rabies and having to be put down by his own young master.
2. Dumbo's mother chained and caged reaching out her trunk to comfort her son.

If we're counting Pixar as Disney, then:

5. "I'm lost" - Lilo & Stitch
4. Ray's death - Princess and the Frog
3. "When She Loved Me" - Toy Story 2
2. Andy gives away his toys - Toy Story 3
1. The intro to "Up"

5. Kota realizing Kenai may leave him in Brother Bear
4. "It's little and broken, but it's still good" "Aloha Oi" Lilo & Stitch
3. The demise of Ursula's "babies" Little Mermaid
 2. The death of Mufasa Lion King
1. The opening montage of Up.

Bonus: "The Shadow Man done laid po' Ray low." Princess and the Frog

Oh, I'll add the opening of UP too.  Very poignant.

1. The Lion King - Mufasa's death.

2. Aladdin - When Jasmine climbs over the wall to leave the castle, her tiger becomes very sad and lies there to wait for her. I don't know why that makes me so sad, considering she returns, but it does.

3. The Lion King 2 - When Kovu's mom dies.

4. Bambi - When his mom is killed.

5. The Brave Little Toaster - The scene where the flower gets incredibly sad. My god. I felt like my life was over after that.

Guys, this is getting creepy. Can we talk about cannibalism instead?

1. The Lion King - Mufasa's death.

Quoted for truth, and cause I can't think of many other sad disney moments and this has me crying every time.

Seconded.

4) When Buzz snaps his arm off and truly realizes he's a toy. Toy Story
3) The Incredibles, where Bob thinks his family was killed.
2) Finding Nemo, where Marlin gets to the dentist's office and thinks his son died.
1) Lilo and Stitch: Nani having a breakdown after aliens destroy her house, Lilo runs away and then gets abducted along with Stitch, while Jumba and Pleakley refuse to help her.

1) Mufasa's death (Obvious reasons)
2) Stitch's death in Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch has a Glitch (even the fact that the Power of Love revives him doesn't change the fact that a main character just... outright dies despite everyone's frantic attempts to help him.  Not a heroic sacrifice, either, just a a passive death, a whispered apology, and then... shuddering to a stop.)
3) Kovu's Exile from Lion King 2 (One of the few times I've wanted to punch Simba in the face.  Simba is one of my favorite characters, by the way.)
4) Nuka's death from Lion King 2 (He finally got the attention he so craved from his mother, and she, for a moment, felt the pain of true loss... of the child she had so despised until he was taken from her.)
5) The mere concept of Toy Story 3.  I got to the part where the toys were convinced Andy had tried to throw them away, and I just... couldn't watch it anymore.  The reason it's at the bottom of this list is because this wasn't a good thing -- I outright stopped the movie because instead of the sadness wanting me to keep watching the movie, it made me hate the movie and stop watching it.  No tears, just... frustrated sorrow.
