Sorry if this has been posted before, but dear god, what an overreaction. I agree that the whole rape plot is fucking idiotic (as well as cliche, but that's beside the point), but this article makes it out to be the only thing about the game. The writer is outright angry over a few stupid sounding comments made by one of the game's producers in this article and instead of making calm commentary, she sensationalizes the whole fucking thing. This is really just bad journalism.

Sorry for linking to Shitaku, but...

Quote
"When people play Lara, they don't really project themselves into the character," Rosenberg told me at E3 last week when I asked if it was difficult to develop for a female protagonist.

"They're more like 'I want to protect her.' There's this sort of dynamic of 'I'm going to this adventure with her and trying to protect her.'"

So is she still the hero? I asked Rosenberg if we should expect to look at Lara a little bit differently than we have in the past.

"She's definitely the hero but— you're kind of like her helper," he said. "When you see her have to face these challenges, you start to root for her in a way that you might not root for a male character."

Gamers don't identify with and project themselves onto Lara? They want to "be her protector"?

What.

What.

You mean most male players didn't just play previous games for the breasts?

I'm pretty impressed, I've had to think, search (including a google search, in game), and have distinct crowd control and single target abilities based on what comination of attacks I use. And the Siren's song is awesome.... I've got a pre-order in on this, if anyone else does I figure a crew of 2 or 3 would make combat a bit less tedious and make it more likely we'll get these hints they toss at us.

Go figure I'd use the internet on a phone in a video game before I did it on my own.

I suddenly find myself wishing that I had a PC that could handle ArmA 2. I must say, the DayZ mod looks like a fuckload of fun, and this is coming from someone who's really getting sick of all these damn zombie games.

Really, IGN? Why do people hate EA? How much did EA pay you to write this piece of shit?

You really want to know why? Well, here's a simple little picture to give you a decent idea.

And, yet, no one ever mentions the unsung gem of Westwood that was NoX.

Also, just watch this and Spoony will tell you, at least partially, just how EA fucked Origin.

Well, what do you expect? IGN survives on advertising and being chummy with EA probably gives them exclusive interviews.

Also, is that a list of games/developers that EA bought over and/or squashed? Do you know any good articles going through EA's problems?

Edit: the Wikipedia page provides a nice summary.

Go figure I'd use the internet on a phone in a video game before I did it on my own.

I'm mostly enjoying it, but find some of the things needlessly difficult. (Like not giving the player the shopping list for the explosives maker after picking up the quest. Took me 20 minutes to find it in the circle.) I wish there was a /queststuck feature that would give a hint if the player gets stuck. (I forgot the clue an NPC mentions in a cut scene that tells you who to talk to to advance the Templar story quest. All the journal said was "Talk to the Survivors" to get information. There are a lot of survivors, and I talked to a lot of them (picking up their quests along the way) without finding the 1 I had to talk to. (A question in General chat got me the hint I needed.)

At first, I hated combat since I did not have ranged or AoE (Fist/Chaos). I dropped Chaos for Pistols briefly yesterday, giving me ranged and AoE. Combat is a lot easier now.

I'm not pre-ordering, but that is mostly because I need to save my money. Hopefully once I get a job, I will be able to pick up the game and start.

I have to figure his Ultima 9 rant, and let's face it that's what this is gonna become, is gonna be in quite lengthy and meaty.  I mean this is the game that offically squashed his childhood and made him the man he is today.  This game...this game...this game is un-fucking-believable.

Ironbite-and yes...you know what voice you read that last line.
