So the gist is that an officer, Peter Liang, accidentally fired his gun while trying to get a door open, the bullet ricocheting and hitting a person walking down the stairs and killing him. The two didn't even come to the man's aid or contacted their supervisors of the incident.

The two have been fired and just recently was convicted and sentenced as mentioned in the title.

The Chinese community is not happy about it, saying if he were white he would have gotten away with it.

So they're basically saying he should get away with it because a white guy might have if he'd done it?  That's a pretty shitty thing to say.  I know that's not literally what they're saying, but effectively it kinda is.

Also, pretty sure white cops have been found guilty of manslaughter and murder before.
