I fear what I'll be like when I'm actually old, considering my already frequent usage of "back in the day" and "damn kids."

I've never said damn kids, but I have yelled at some hipsters "damn hipsters, get outta my house. I don't like you and Pabst Blue Ribbon is not good beer"

Well, my parents have always said I'm an old soul, wise beyond my years...

I've been told that too, so take compliments like that with a grain of salt  :P

I'm pretty sure that a lot of parents think all their children are special. Once down the street there was a family with only one son, who had serious seizures that resulted in developmental brain damage. They were brought on by eating too much sugar and as a result his parents had to regulate his diet very carefully. His parents considered him an "indigo child", and while I think it is a very stupid idea (but a genius scam), I do feel sorry for them. They were probably looking for some way, any way, to value their child's strengths and not focus on his weaknesses. He was a very sensitive boy. Unfortunately he moved away. Although I would like to meet him again and see how he's doing.

I've actually never received that compliment, or compliments about my intelligence (or much anything), from my parents. I was told that by a couple of ex-coworkers and some people I've dated. Of course, I'm horribly immature and such a compliment couldn't be further from the truth  ;D

... Odd thought. In 3.5e D&D, why do Bards have their alignments restricted to non-Lawful? What in a Bard's code makes it inherently impossible for them to be Lawful? What about the skalds who compose ballads to inspire the king's armies, and propagandists who use their skills to placate (or manipulate) the public? (Hmm, Lawful Evil Bards...)

It is a bit of a hold-over and a refinement from earlier editions where bards had to be wandering minstrel-types it was viewed that a Lawful character would form too many attachments to fit that archetype.

In second edition, the Bard had to be partially Neutral, just like the 3.x druid. Amusingly enough, The Complete Bard’s Handbook had a Skald kit*. Still had to be partially Neutral, though. But Lawful Neutral was actually still on the table.

*That book probably had the best kit system out of any of the supplemental books of that era. Instead of crappy, don’t-make-much-difference minor bonus and penalty, they actually outright replaced standard class abilities with new, flavorful abilities, just like 3.5 Alternate Class Features.

I've been called "more mature than most people" once. The specific circumstance was how I was dealing with the first girl I ever fell in love with. My approach to the problem was based largely on trying to figure out her feelings. I concluded that, at the time, she was likely unsure about her feelings for me, based on the mixed signals she was sending. So I decided to wait, give her time to figure out how she felt about me.

I found this written in my notes on discrete event simulation:

1. What is next event?
2. Advance system clock
3. Handle event
4. Schedule future events
5. ? ? ? ? ?
6. PROFIT
