Akinator
« on: September 03, 2013, 08:28:37 am »
For those of you who don't know, Akinator is a 20 questions style person guessing game with an infuriating habit of winning. It's surprisingly addicting. In the past, I've beaten it, taught it people, and typically gotten my ass kicked no matter what character or person I've tried. Today, it seems even more smug than usual, having been fielding all the right questions way before it could possibly have narrowed it down, and after getting one wrong (Twiggy Ramirez), it spent the next five smugly making it quite clear it had it now. It got Manson in 14 questions, Till Lindemann in 20 (with many of them being intentionally pointless, and the last two, asking if he is German and then if the character has "a great affinity for fire", being mocking) and Richard Z. Kruspe in 18 (with it being right on the money half-way through), and John 5 in 25. On the bright side, it took 48 to get Durandal (from Marathon), Otep Shamaya in 68, with it only figuring it out at 66 by asking if the character is a lesbian, Frank "I've covered wars, ya know" West in 32 and Lucy/Nyu from Elfen Lied in 23. So, share your tales of trying to beat the thing, or just who it guesses in general.

I'm surprised it's so accurate, even though it asks a lot of fucking retarded or redundant questions. For Hideki Tojo, it established that he's dead and was around during WWII, then on question 7 it asks me if he makes Minecraft videos. Of course. In fact, he's as popular as Chiang Kai Shek and his anime music videos.

On the upside, it correctly guessed Smooth McGroove. I suppose that's cool.

I tried Sir Digby Chicken Caesar which it got in 20 something guesses.

Then Pingu which it got in 18 guesses.

Oh wow. Question 4. Is this person a porn actor? Yes. Question 24. Has your character had their first kiss yet? ...Take a wild fucking guess.

Ha. Took 40 questions to get Ariel Rebel. It actually got close (As in, "Is you character Canadian?" followed by "Is your character a rebel?") at 29. I have no idea why it went derp there.

He doesn't seem to know ANY characters from Ultima VII Part 2: Serpent's Isle.  I beat him with Erstram, Luther, and Boydon.  Also beat him with Baldspot from Project Zomboid.

Alas, he got Jacket from Hotline Miami easily, as well as the Driver from Drive.  At least I've got a solid source of things this bastard doesn't know!

Beat him with Agba from King of the Wind, of all things.

Ha, I beat it with Akira Yuki.  I knew it would never guess him, there's only like 6 people who play Virtua fighter including me.

It did guess Ryu from Street Fighter.  Close I guess,as Akira has some clear inspirations from Ryu, but no cigar.

Edit:  Shit, I didn't realise at first that you can tell it it's guess was wrong and it'll ask more questions.  It eventually got Akira after 29 or 30 questions total.  I will defeat it!!

I swear, I think it might be looking at your browsing history. Last time I played it, I wasn't into music much, and it didn't normally give music questions. Now, it opens with them.
