Badass Animals
« on: July 26, 2013, 02:06:49 am »
I found this Cracked article that lists six pairs of animals. The first animal in the pair is what would usually scare the piss out of us because of how dangerous and vicious it is. The second animal in the pair, surprisingly, eats the first animal. I was debating putting this in the Entertainment or Lounge sections since it's a Cracked article, but it's still informative. Anyway, here are the pairs:

- Tarantulas and a species of Wasp
- Piranhas and Dolphins
- Giant Hornets and Buzzards
- Sharks and Orcas
- Caimans and Jaguars
- Badgers and Golden Eagles

Here's the article: http://www.cracked.com/article_19377_6-animals-that-kill-natures-scariest-creatures-fun_p1.html

Tarantulas aren't even scary. Except for the bird-eating kind because they're vicious...

note: not a tarantula, but....

Cracked articles are brilliant. They put factual information in an easily-swallowed humor shell, allowing tons more to gain information than the original articles they cite would. Basically, Cracked educates people.

That's pretty much the case here. Aside from the orcas feasting on sharks, I didn't know about any of this stuff. And I thought it was an uproarious read to boot. One of the rare cases where time spent on the intertubes wasn't a complete waste of time :P

I'm more scared of wasps then tarantulas myself. Evil bastards, wasps. And we don't have any tarantulas around here anyway.

Honey badgers.  Nothing, NOTHING fucks with a honey badger and lives to tell the tale.

Or at least if it lives it doesn't keep its tesitcles, according to QI.

Ants are pretty badass. There's this this awesome BBC video showing a colony vs a crab, but I can't get YouTube to load. >.<

I wonder if that shark in any way inspired the Aliens' second internal mouth thing?  The shark just reminds me of it, the way it's mouth shoots out of it's face like that and how it isn't attached to the face like with most other animals but is like it's own separate body part, almost like a limb.

I know sharks don't have a face the same way humans do but you know what I mean.
