What the hell is wrong with cyberpunk?
The problem is all of these things tend to be movements or entertainments that take time away from God or spiritual enlightenment, as far as they see it. I read Buddhist stuff, so as long as it doesn't control your happiness or harm others, who cares what you do?

did anyone else read the part about "satan's components" and then have their eyes glance up at the boobles so prominent above the picture?
I was beginning to think I was the only person who'd noticed the boobies.

You know the funny thing is that LOTR is on the list, ummm isn't LOTR heavy based upon christian beliefs?? Should just add the Chronicles of Narnia to the list, especially since Tolkien and C. S Lewis were buddies.

I thought LOTR was kind of a rebuttal of Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia. Lewis was a Christian, but I didn't think Tolken was.

He was a devout catholic but I don't think he put any of it into LOTR. Unless you count Gandalf coming back from the dead to be a Jesus allegory, but I don't think that every single character that comes back from the dead is meant to be Jesus.

Tolkein was a firm believer in applicability. He didn’t put any intentional allegory into his work. He was pretty upset when folks tried to interpret LotR with any overly-specific meaning, whether it be Jesus or WWII. His work had its broad themes, but beyond that, it is for each individual reader to decide how those themes personally apply to them.

Anti-industrialization definitely, anti-technology might not have been as solid. But then the guy did go through a world war, and those didn't do much to improve people's opinions of technology.

He also saw what big industry did to his once sleepy farming hamlet when he came back from WW!. He saw it as kinda scaring the land. You can see that by the foundrys and factories of the Goblins or whoever and the happy little smiddy shops on the good lands.

The Scouring of the Shire was almost certainly based on this experience.

About Tolkien and Christianity, it's worth noting that he he actually brought C.S. Lewis back to Christianity after the latter had turned agnostic.

I just noticed them.  Guess I'm handing over my Man Card again.

Noon, you don't need to hand over jack squat. Being a man should never be defined by noticing some breasts. Really! (The internets is serious business!)

There is, in fact, a fairly sizeable community of 'therianthropes' who believe that they are spiritually animals or animal-human combinations.  Most don't believe in physical transformation (key word: most) but they feel that they change psychologically, taking on mental aspects of their animal spirit.
