Very easily.

It was also the first conflict that we, as a country, could point to as a clear loss.

War of 1812.  Not only did the British burn down the presidential mansion, we also managed nothing more than a restoration of the status quo ante bellum.  We did not win that war.  You'll notice that history classes love to play up the Battle of New Orleans, which, despite being an awesome battle with a funny song written about it, had no effect on the outcome of the war, since it was fought AFTER the treaty was signed, but before the generals involved got the news.

This. People also forget that initially, the US tried to invade Canada and failed. But it's sugared so we don't look like the aggressor (that isn't to say the British wasn't also doing wrong by kidnapping our sailor, but that it's a lot grayer than people think.)

The Canadian kids I know totally like to rub in my face that they burned down the White House, but neglect to mention the fact that they were only doing it because they were Britain's bitch at the time.

It's probably unpatriotic of me to like having 1812 rubbed in my face, but sometimes it's done humorously.

I think we Americans kinda need that sort of reality check a little more often, really.

cuz it burned burned burned, and we're the ones that did it~

By the way I'm not trying to be an asshole by quoting the song there, I would assume you guys have a sense of humour about these kinds of things. As a Canadian, I get to hear jokes about my country all the time, feels good to joke back for once... but I'm off-topic.

As long as we keep blaming women for, well, existing, men will always find something to perv over, and it will never be their fault for what they do afterwards.

Aren't those from a protest which was staged for marketing? Or is that another on all together?

Well, there are some real ones now since the Florida Family Association has called for people to protest EA for including homosexuality.
That may be the single gayest thing I have ever read on this board. Or the old one. ;)

Which seems to be the only thing that EA has done right.

I'm starting to think Burkas do prettymuch the opposite of what they're supposed to - rather than protect and hide, they're almost a fetishistic thing that allows men to imagine they're surrounded by idealized, perfect women just waiting to be unwrapped like the candy in the ads.
Jesus had two dads and he turned out okay.
