Warren Buffett to GOP: I'll match ya

Warren Buffett has made an offer to the GOP to match them, dollar for dollar, any donations towards debt reduction the GOP makes, except in the case of Mitch McConnell, whom he's offered to match 3$-1$. I AM curious about what the GOP's reaction will be. I need to get some popcorn, this could be fun.

Not going to do anything.  Hence why he can do such a move.

Lower tax RATE, yeah. He still pays more in actual dollar amount but that's because he makes most of his income through Capital Gains.

Still, the GOP is gonna ignore it.

Not really, deficit reduction isn't important.

This, but still an amazing gesture.

And any reason why he calls out Mitch McConnell in particular?

Why is this amazing? The man is the second richest man in the USA. Even if he paid all of his 2011 earnings at 38%, he'd STILL have money left over. Which is the point; when you're already making millions, taking away even hundred of thousands of dollars will not affect job creation in any sense.

I meant amazing in an awesome sense. Of course he has the money to pay, but this puts all the deficit hawks in their place for using the deficit to pander to people's fear. Hence why its a cool move.

But Ironbite's right, the republican's won't pay a dime, so he won't pay. Depressing, but I still like the call out.

I think this move is less about Buffett agreeing that the deficit is important, so much as telling the Repubs, “Put up, or shut up!”
