Living Waters Attempts Illegal Censorship
« on: August 26, 2015, 03:30:58 pm »
As some of you might have heard, Ray Comfort (Living Waters Ministry) released a "movie" about homosexuality this year. Now that the movie is public, the reviews have started coming in, including one from the Bible Reloaded guys. Hugo and Jake, fully aware of Ray's previous attempts at censoring reviews, did a full review of Audacity, but did not use even one single image from the movie. That didn't stop Ray. The review has been taken down, and the Bible Reloaded account has a strike. Patheos has the story here.

At the time of this post, the video appears to be back up.

Google treats DMCA takedown notices as rubber stamps.

Why am I not surprised they acted on yet another illegal notice?
Consumption is not a politically combative act — refraining from consumption even less so.

Their bots err on the side of caution, which is to say, err on the side of "Fuck you, this company has money and could sue us if we don't take it down."
"Politician" is the occupational equivalent of "Florida".

Maybe there should be some kind of legal fund on the users' behalf.

Google and other huge corporations benefit tremendously from the DMCA. They actively lobby Congress to pass corporate supremacy treaties and legislation.

I have no sympathy for them and it seems awfully convenient that they have such automated measures in place to make life harder for the little guy.

imdb.com gives it a 4.9 out of 10 which I find shockingly high.
