I'm no photographer, but these are the best ones I've taken. They're about 6 years old now D:

This was the field across the street from my house. It was such a nice view until they built a bunch of houses on it.

Since I live right on Lake Michigan, it presents plenty of photographic opportunities.

Damn..why would you be embarrased at all?

Great shots everyone!

TGRwulf, where was the first one taken? It kind of looks like the Great Smoky Mountains to me..but maybe a little too flat.  :p

Mt. Monadnock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Monadnock) in New Hampshire.  It is supposedly the second most hiked mountain in the WORLD, and is not far from Mt. Washington and the rest of the White Mountains.  It's like an hour from me and I've hiked it more times than I can count.

Nice.

Rode the cog railroad up Mt. Washington, but that's as close as I can say I've been to that one.

It also gives its name to a type of geographical feature found all over the place. A monadnock is an isolated mountain in an otherwise flat environment. Round here they're former islands from when sea levels were higher. In Europe they're called inselbergs, I don't know why the American term is used here in the UK.

I've got a bunch of nice landscape pictures, and some not so good ones. I'm about to go to bed though, so I'm not going to go through and pick out the best ones right now (Will later though). In the meantime here's a link to my latest batch of uploads: http://imgur.com/a/7DG1d
I know some of them aren't great, but I do have some really nice ones in older updates. I'll go through later and post some of the best. (Also don't worry, they're not all greyscale)

edit: here are some more from back when I used photobucket

Nobody's posted anything in here for over two months. Time to give this thread a kick up the arse.

How about a cat? Everyone on the web loves cats:

I don't take real "this is my photography guyz" pictures much. This is basically a smattering of stuff from my New York vacation in December, all impromptu and with an iPhone. I took about 50 pics in total, most of them in Central Park and over the course of several days.

Well, I finally got off my ass and took some more pictures. Most of them are of the ruins of that barn from before, because it was chilly and I was lazy and didn't want to walk around too much, and it's right there. Spoilered in groups of five for size.

Remember when cellphone cameras were universally shitty and impossible to take seriously? I think those days are gone.  (also this isn't as nice as it could be, it's literally what I see outside my window right now, taken, er, through my window.

I kinda forgot about this thread  :-\

A few I took in Australia (I've more pics from there, I just haven't gotten round to processing them yet).  BTW, if there are any Aussies on this board: your country is fucking amazing, how do I get to live there?

Edit: Bagh, compression has killed sharpness again :(

That's Green Island, off the coast of Queensland, on the Barrier Reef.  Queensland is rediculous, if you haven't been you should go.  Seriously, everyone go visit Queensland ASAP.  I spent nearly 3 weeks with my mouth wide open and I've never been so pissed off at having to go back home in my life.  I actually looked into emigrating there.  Sadly I don't have any of the job skills that makes that process easier, I'd need to find an employer to sponsor me to move.

Only down side: 22 hours on planes is not fun.

Do it, do it now!  When I arrived it was technically still winter there, and I was swimming in an unheated out-door pool AT NIGHT and I didn't end up in hospital.  Where I'm from there aren't many days in the fucking summer where I'd be able to go swimming in an unheated out door pool during daylight hours.  And it's a developed, 1st world  country with a rainforrest, there's not too many of those about.

And then there's this place, where my sister got married in Queensland - http://tinyurl.com/npygvum

Considering that it's Australia, you're more lucky that the pool didn't have any microscopic, instantly fatal jellyfish in it. Or an invisible shark. Or spiders.

Well it was a swimming pool, someone would had to have put jellyfish in it.

I actually saw very little evidence of spiders and other nature-wants-you-dead type animals while I was there.  Didn't see any spiders at all in fact, just two webs but they've got a lot of (harmless) ants in Palm Cove.  Deaths from sharks, spider bites and what not are apparently quite rare, though shark attacks have been on the icnrease on the south-weat coast.

It also seems like the majority of Australia's wildlife is lying dead on the side of the road.

Seriously, I've never seen so much road kill.  It's insane.  And with things like partially decapitated kangaroos it's also quite disturbing sometimes.

Sure, Queensland can be nice if you like hot weather, but be aware that it is also by far the most right wing state in the country. They have the honour of producing Joh Bjelke-Petersen and Pauline Hanson.

Really?  Everyone seemed so nice and friendly and laid back it's hard to imagine them as right wing nutters.  As regular nutters yes, but not right wing ones lol.  I guess I'm just used to living in a part of the world where pricks are much easier to spot, as they wear their prickness with pride, 'coz they somhow think being a prick makes them awesome.

As for the heat, yeah its hot but it didn't feel as hot as I expected.  The temperature was regularly in the 30's (celcius) but I've experienced temperatures in the 20's that have felt hotter.  In Verona for example it didn't really get above 28 but I nearly fucking died (exaggerating, obviously) it felt so hot there.

I'm not really into music, so I don't see what bands look like all that often, which leads me to a question.  Are an inordinate number of the women in those bands objectively absurdly attractive, or do I apparently have a thing for musicians?

So, a friend of mine and I went halves on a new camera, and it's awesome! He took me flying yesterday and had me take a bunch of pictures out the window, which was a whole lot of fun, but at the same time it was kinda terrifying. (Hey, you try holding a $900 camera you've literally never used before out an airplane window and see how calm you are.) They mostly came out fairly blurry, but this really is the first time I've used it, and the first time I've gotten to actually use a camera without an autofocus (also the whole plane thing), so with that in mind, I think I did okay on the focusing. Anyways, take a look at this!

So I've been screwing around with the focus and shutter speed a little bit here:
http://imgur.com/a/OByUQ

I really love the contrast between the faster shutter speed, where it looks like the turntable's off, and the slower one, where you can obviously tell it's moving. I think the first one in the album there might be the best..

I like the colour balance on the first one, although the detail on the record itself is better on some of the others.  Still, pretty good shots :)
