I really wish that all the main stream clergy of every faith would get out there and rebut all the extremist derp in general. The polite, passive attitude of letting the dimwits mewl unchallenged has gradually led to extremists invading politics and education, thereby causing some real damage, especially to children.
I wish the same. The best way to fight bigotry is for the nice, sane, intelligent ones of those demographics speak out against the maniacs. Now, I know they don't have the monetary clout that the Bible/Quran/Other Scripture-bangers have but where there's a will, there's a way! Raise money! Use the Net! Go on the streets! Hold meetings! Have cable access shows! Speeches! Marches! SOMETHING!
I might understand that the nice mainstream Muslims may be fearful, considering the nature of IslamoFundieism but still, someone should speak out. Heck, if they blow-up, they'll be martyrs for a new progressive movement! Heck, ChristoFundies can stoop to terrorism, too. Just ask Eric Rudolph. There's nuts everywhere!
The horrific deaths of Emmett Till and those four precious little girls in that Alabama church didn't slow down The Civil Rights Movement. It made it STRONGER! Progressive folks need the will & guts to give their lives again.
Men & Boys need to speak out against Misogyny & Rape Culture!
Sane Religious folks need to speak out against the Fundy-Zealot nuts!
Atheists need to speak out against the Hyper-Anti-Theist-Blowhard crowd (I'll get flamed for this one).
...and so on...
People need to learn Tolerance, Acceptance, Love & Peacemaking.
