Fuck me gently with a chainsaw:

Quote
The Treasury inspector general (IG) whose report helped drive the IRS targeting controversy says it limited its examination to conservative groups because of a request from House Republicans.
A spokesman for Russell George, Treasury’s inspector general for tax administration, said they were asked by House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) “to narrowly focus on Tea Party organizations.”  The inspector general’s audit found that groups seeking tax-exempt status with “Tea Party” and “patriots” in their name did receive extra attention from the IRS, with some facing years of delay and inappropriate questions from the agency.
But top congressional Democrats have wielded new information from the IRS this week that liberal groups were also flagged for extra attention on the sorts of “be on the lookout” lists (BOLOs) that also tripped up conservative groups.

Rep. Issa used his committee chairmanship influence to set up a scandal framework mechanism using the IRS, to discredit Democrats/Obama administration, and also knew it went after competitors within his own party? Plus, hassled leftish groups, nu?

Glad that his Snidely Whiplash-style dick move is coming around to bite him in the face, now.

I'm just amazed at this ploy and how badly it's gonna backfire on the Republicans soon.

Ironbite-the Tea Party will eat them alive for this.

Except that none of the Rebublican voters will hear this on the news. And the GOP will forever be thankful to Issa for helping create this scandal which will continue to hurt the Democrats.

That would still not bring it to the attention of Rebublican voters. We need Colbert on the case.

Yeah, but they don't watch Colbert, either. It needs to become such a huge story that FOX News has no choice but to cover it.

Actually Colbert report has a sizeable conservative fan-base who believe that he is a conservative and merely exaggerates his beliefs for the sake of comedy.

Some point out that he uses some real right wing talking points, even if they are a bit over the top for the moderates and sometimes it's just Poe's law in effect.

So, basically, we've got ourselves a good ole fashioned political civil war? With all sides armed like fucking maniacs? ~gets popcorn~

So Daryl Issa tried to act like a cunning supervillain, but failed utterly. What else is new?
